Beyond the Purism of Abstraction

Beyond The Purism of Abstraction is an arrangement of dot matrix LED lights suggesting a group of stars in the constellation Virgo. The work is a celebration of the vision and vitality of Claudio del Sole's Astralist Manifesto of 1959, which contains an almost naive optimism and belief in the future - like gazing up into the sky at night and being mesmerised and enchanted by the wonder of the stars.
Commissioned for The Observatory, an exhibition at Bobinska Brownlee New River celebrating the work of Claudio del Sole. With work by D J Roberts and James Scott Brooks.
